This entry is part 16 of 22 in the series The Major Arcana

It is the archetype of personal vices, and it only appears when temptation has gotten the best of you.

“That emptiness you feel?” the Devil says to you. “That will only go away once you address the root of the problem.”

“But what is the root of the problem?” you ask.

“Only you can know that,” it says. “What temptations have gotten a grasp of you lately?”

“Oh. Those,” you say. “I’ve been mostly going with the flow lately.”

“And allowing your temptations to run roughshod over you,” the Devil says.

“Perhaps,” you admit. “But don’t we all have vices?”

“Most do, and most vices will only fill you with desolation, like a yawning chasm. Temptations are best to be dealt with, which is why you are seeing me.”

You know the Devil is right, and you resolve to put your temptations aside for the sake of the greater good and well-being of your own person.
