Series: The Major Arcana
They are intertwined with one another, for they are a Bonded pair. They are soulmates and partners, and they seek to enrich one another always. These are the Lovers, and their relationship is their first and utmost priority.
You draw close, not wanting to interrupt their communion with one another, but they notice you anyway. They separate to welcome you into their presence, yet they continue to hold hands. You can tell their bond is unshakeable, and you find yourself jealous of the connection they obviously share with one another.
“I want a soulmate like you,” you say.
“Soulmates come and go,” they say to you, in unison. “Have you had the experience of a soulmate before?”
You nod, slowly. “Once, maybe, but it didn’t last. I miss it, and I want it again.”
“Focus on your relationships with those around you. Enhance and enrich each one with your presence and personality and energy. A new soulmate will rise, whether it be from one of those connections or from a new one you haven’t realized yet. But the connections you already have shouldn’t be left to dissipate while you wait for a soulmate. Each one is valuable in its own way, important to who you are as a person. Cultivate these relationships. Grow them. Luxuriate in them, for many such relationships do not last. Glory in the presence in others in your life while they are there. Your soulmate will find you, we assure you.”
They close ranks with each other once again, their arms around one another. You nod at their words and take some hope from them. You dream of having what they have, but now you know that the Universe will provide that bond eventually. And you plan to hang on to it for as long as it lasts.
Some interesting concepts explored here. Their bond seems so permanent, but by their own admission it is not. Perhaps things do not have to last to be beautiful.
Beauty is what you make of it, and there’s something to be said for making the most of what you have right now.
