I can’t tell you what I’ve been doing. Mostly, because I don’t know myself. You see, I’ve been renting out my body and cranial space to the highest bidder. And that has made me immensely wealthy. But because I’m not fully present in my body during those times, I have no awareness of what I’ve been up to.

I first learned about the program while doom-scrolling on social media. There was an ad for how to make money quickly. Naturally, I scrolled past it the first few times. Most of those “get rich quick” schemes are just that — schemes. But after seeing it several times over, I got intrigued. So I messaged the company doing the advertising to see if I could learn more. And boy, howdy, did I ever learn more.

They actually brought me to their headquarters so they could give me the grand tour. They’d had very few interested parties up to this point, so they were very excited to see me. They had a slide show all prepared, detailing the specifics of the program, if not the actual “how to.”

The long and the short of it was this — they took me to their on-site lab and, with my permission, implanted a chip into my brain using a very high-tech bit of equipment. The chip, they said, served two functions. The first was that it was a place where my own consciousness could reside while someone was “riding” me. The second was that the chip allowed others access to my brain and body. Every person involved in the program had a chip of their own, and the two could synchronize to temporarily transfer a consciousness from one body to another.

And so I’ve been renting my body out for several months now. Like I said previously, it’s made me an inordinate amount of money. I don’t have to work a job anymore. I just have to cozy up in a little corner of my brain from time to time while someone else uses the space I inhabit. I go unconscious, effectively, and someone else gets to play. It’s not a bad gig.

Now excuse me, I have another rental.
