I can’t survive without electricity. Like, it’s literally wired into my body. You see, I’m an android, and I need power to function. And since no one has been able to manufacture fully functional organic bodies yet, I’m wired up with old-fashioned electric power.
I run on a specialized battery that my Maker designed especially for robotic bodies. It’s rechargeable, puts out enough power to light up a small town for several hours, and can go days without a recharge, if I’m judicious about the kinds of activities I engage in.
For instance, if I fire the high-powered laser embedded into my forehead, it drains my battery by about a quarter with each firing. But if I merely walk or run, well, I can run for days and only deplete about 10% of my battery. Highly strenuous activities, which I’m built for, drain me faster than leisurely ones. I think you see the logic of this by now.
I almost always plug in at the end of every day, though. I like to keep my power supply topped off in case of an emergency. I can even siphon off small amounts of power from organic beings, by using a couple of small electrodes wired to their chest. I don’t do this often, especially after I tried it with my Maker. He’s still sitting in his office chair where I left him six weeks ago. He hasn’t moved since. I think he may be broken or needs to recharge.
I’ll wire him up to my wall socket later and see if that jump starts him again. After all, I still need someone to pay the electric bill so I can continue to function.
