If I added a plugin to my blog here that allows readers to bookmark entries either in their browser or on one of a couple of dozen social bookmarking websites, would anyone actually use it?
Hmm, I added something like that to my blog and I’m not convinced it’s added any value at all.
Yeah, I was using ShareThis for a while, but it really didn’t have any effect on my traffic. I see the _potential_ value in having one, but if people don’t use it, then all it really adds is clutter.
I tend to click them if I think it’s something that other people might find useful/interesting. If it’s just to bookmark it/del.icio.us tag it, then no, I just use the FireFox extension that adds it to my account. As for blogs that I subscribe to via RSS, rarely will I do this because I’m more likely to just “Star” the post in Google Reader…
