If you could assign three colors to represent science fiction, what would they be?
If you could assign three colors to represent fantasy, what would they be?
If you could assign three colors to represent horror, what would they be?
And yes, there is a point to this.
Science fiction: Slate gray, neon/lime green, and electric blue.
Fantasy: Forest green, a deep earthtone brown, and silver.
Horror: Black, crimson, and a dark gray.
… *shrug*
science fiction: orange, neon green, and violet
fantasy: steel grey, green and gold
horror: red, black and pea-soup green
SciFi: Blue, Black and Silver
Fantasy: Green, Gold and Dark Brown
Horror: Red, Black and Charcoal Grey
Silver, Black and White
Forrest Green, Gold and Brown
Blood Red, Deep Brown and Dark Grey
Sci Fi: Yellow, Red and Blue (good ‘ol Start Trek original series uniform colors)
Fantasy: Dark Green (hunter or forest), Yellow, Brown
Horror: Black, White, Red
In tabulating responses from the three different places where I posed this question, it was interesting to note the things that folks latched onto as being benchmarks for each of the three genres. But the top responses were: science fiction – grey/silver, blue, and green or black (tie); fantasy – green, yellow, and brown or white (tie); and horror – red, black, and grey (red and black were given by every single person).
Now, I just need to see if I can actually weave this into a theme.
