The Color of Money

I can’t figure out how changing the colors of our paper currency is supposed to make it harder to counterfeit.
I think the theory is that the variations in color are harder for a counterfeiter to match exactly than the straight green and won’t duplicate on color copiers as precisely.
Or it could just be that the US Treasury Department suffers from currency envy of the pretty bills from the rest of the world. I don’t know.
I don’t mind the new colors in our money. I just don’t really see how it will help prevent counterfeiting. Probably just my own ignorance, I suppose.
