You're the second person today to say that. Looks like I need to tweak my 'Asides' format a bit.

Note that the above is a quote from the linked article on John Scalzi's site. I do have an iPhone that I'm very happy with, and I'm not eager to be an early iPad adopter.

Yeah, I don't always think being an early adopter is a good thing. I'm a little put off by how small the hard drive is on that thing. If it turns out that it's only a large-screen version of the Touch, then I'm not sure I'm impressed.

I recently held off purchasing an iPod Touch because I still have a perfectly good 2nd Generation iPod, third generation Nano, and a fully functional Palm T5. The iPad looks like something that might justify replacing some or all of those, including my 10" Sony Vaio for traveling convenience.

It doesn't not appear it would replace a fully functional computer at all times. I've heard rumblings that it's a regressed iPod Touch, though, and I'd like to discover in what way. I, too, plan to hold off for at least the second generation.

Only if they add style support. I can't see drawing or writing with one's finger as being more efficient or practical than using the traditional pen/paper combination.

I would consider that a wise decision. I may do the same thing. That said, I could see this being a great pen/paper notebook replacement.
